Ive come across a 'so called' facts that an author cooked up over the years. There was only one book called 'ripperology' in the library so im sure we have all read it by now so im sorry if you have come across the same information as im about to tell you.
One theory that i havent heard before through previous research or in our jack the ripper workshop is the theory that the reason why he was killing these prostitutes was because he was avenging his sons venereal disease. The disease was supposedly given to his son by Mary Jane Kelly. In this theory 'Jack the ripper' is a doctor who's wife dies while giving birth to their son and so he devotes his life to his son. The doctor is upperclass and wealthy. Once his son dies of the disease he goes on a hunt to find Mary and kill her for what she has done.
This small theory covers a range of 'non-facts', such as:
- Jack the ripper was a doctor
- Jack the ripper had a son
- Jack the ripper was wealthy
- Jack the ripper was a man
One thing about this theory that does give it some merit is that the theory also goes on to say that while he searched for mary he interiigated other prostitutes. Once he got the info he wanted he silenced them with his knife. This explains a few things
- Why there were murders before Mary
- Why she seems to be the last murder
- Why all of the other were on the street (he would have questioned them as he saw them?)
- Why this murder was SO BRUTAL!!!
I conclude that 'Ripperology' Is taking small facts and adding it with whatever you want to create a theory that is ''believable''.
What do you guys think??

i have just spent several hours trying to find definate true facts and there are surprisingly few.
i do agree that many facts have developed because of the lack of evidence. the latest evidence was revealed just today (19.11.08) in the Telegraph. just goes to show how he's still selling papers and how the media are quick to profit of the deaths of five? or more women!
